DIY – Avocado hair mask

I don’t know about you but my hair is in desperate need of some TLC after the cold and harsh winter months. I train almost everyday which means I have to wash my hair daily and to be honest they haven’t invented a good dry shampoo for the brunette yet. You can always get a ready made mask to help restore your hair, but I prefer to keep things as natural as possible when it comes to my beauty regime. Here’s my favourite DIY mask to help repair your follicles. You are probably already familiar with the fact that avocados make great facial masks, but did you know they are great for nourishing your hair?

what you will need:

Half an avocado
One egg
1-2 tbsp lemon juice

how to do it:

1. Slice the avocado in half and remove the seed. Squeeze or scoop the flesh into a bowl and mash it with a spoon until smooth.

2. Add the egg and whip it around until fully combined. Add the lemon juice a little bit at a time until you reach the consistency of yoghurt.

3. When ready, wet hair and towel dry it enough so that it’s not dripping. Take a scoop of the hair mask and start working it in from the roots to the tip until all your hair has been treated. Once finished, I put all my hair on top of my head and secured it into a bun.

4. Allow the mask to sit for 20-30 minutes and then rinse out as much as you can. Shampoo and condition your hair as normal.
