Review of Cote Brasserie

When I relaunched the blog I added the category “Around Notting Hill”. This is for people visiting London but also those already living here looking discover new gems in our city. I will be reviewing resturants, bars, beauty salons and more. Most of them will be around Notting Hill area, some elsewhere in central London. My reviews will be based on my own experiences and I promise to be unbiased. So let’s start with the first review in this category:

Cote Brasserie is a British owned chain of French-style bistros. It mirrors the trend in Paris where locals are turning away from over complicated cooking and returning to the basics of French cuisine. Cote promises classic dishes such as steak frites, corn fed chicken, chargrilled fresh tuna steak and more at medium prices. The chain that won the Good Food Guide award for “Best Value Restaurant in the UK for 2009, is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I visited the Westbourne Grove branch for lunch. They do a great set menu during the weekdays between 12-7pm: 2 courses for £9.95 or – 3 courses for £11.90. I ordered the steak frites for main and Creme Brulee for desert and I was delighted with my choice. The food was absolutely delicious and desert to die for. The bistro has a lovely atmosphere. The only thing I wasn’t happy with was the service. The girl serving us had such an attitude and it took her forever to get our order. Perhaps this was a one-off, I am willing to find out only because the food was so good.

Zina S Sparling at Narciss

wo weeks back I attended Narciss Kiss the Summer event held at their Westbourne Grove boutique. It was to celebrate the launch of Zina S. Sparling’s jewellery collection that’s now available at Narciss. I did my research and found out that the woman behind the London-based fashion label is the stunning Alise Trautmane. I’m very impressed by the design of the boutique and how friendly the staff are…and of course the delicious cupcakes.

Leia and I found many investment pieces such as an amazing LBD with a bow in the back which also comes in red. Beautiful blouses with pussycat bows and amazing clutches.

Zina S. Sparling makes stunning and unique jewellery mixing vintage with contemporary. I fell in love with the 24 ct gold-plated Divine Comedy Ring with the large purple Agate encircled with beautiful tourmaline.

A glorious morning

Another perfect morning here on Westbourne Grove. As the tradition goes, we started our Sunday with breakfast at Daylesford organic, we sat outside since the weather is lovely. I had their amazing muesli and self-made yoghurt. Now time for gym. After that we are invited at my friends mother’s place to have some lovely Persian food. Yep Sundays are all about being good to yourself :)

Blog date

Hey lovelies,

It’s almost Friday!!! I bet you are counting down to the weekend already. I work Friday-Monday this week which means no Notting Hill carnival for me this year :( What’s the point of having a balcony that faces Portobello if you can’t sit on it during the carnival and sip on nice cocktails? I won’t be bitter…I hope all of you who live in London and plan to visit the carnival have a wonderful time. It’s always so much fun. Please make sure to take lots of photos and share them with the rest of us.

So on my last day off I met up with the wonderful Leia from Leia’s Delights. Me and Leia met up a couple of months ago and instantly clicked. She is the sweetest girl and such a positive person to have around. We visited Ottolenghi on Westbourne Grove. Thought I share some photos from our blog date :)
